Meet Sadiya: State Topper from Manipur

Sadiya from Manipur has brought glory to her entire family by topping the girl’s list of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) in Manipur. The test was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on September 12, 2021. The results were declared on November 1, 2021. This year particularly girls have made history with their exceptional results. Ph. Sadiya has made strides as she is the first girl from her village to top the list of selected candidates from her State.

 

Leading the way with change

Hailing from a small village Mayang Imphal Bengoon in district Imphal West Sadiya always felt deeply for the lack of healthcare facilities around her. In an exclusive interview with Awaz-e-Khwateen she revealed that there were almost no female doctors in her village. This drove her to work harder and be the change she wanted to see. Sadiya wants to be a gynaecologist and serve the women of her village after completing her MBBS.

 

Father's support key to success

Sadiya credits her father's immense support and confidence in her as the reason for her success. Sadiya’s father works in the Veterinary department. Sadiya says her father is extremely farsighted and never stopped her from doing anything. To boost Sadiya’s academic excellence he provided her with all the necessary facilities.

 

Hard work is the way to go

Sadiya did her preparation from Rahmani 30, a Muslim Educational Trust, in Bangalore, Karnataka. With an impressive score of 355 points out of 360 points in Biology, Sadiya calls Biology her favourite subject. She leaves all the aspiring students with only one piece of advice, “Try not to give up”. Sadiya’s success story reminds us that no matter what, if one sets their mind at something, nothing is impossible with hard work.

Taliban Announces Ban on Women’s Sports

Awaz e Khwateen A Taliban spokesperson has announced a ban on women's sports, especially women’s cricket in Afghanistan. Ahmadullah Wasiq, the deputy head of the Taliban's Cultural Commission while talking to SBS said, "In cricket, they (women) might face a situation where their face and body will not be covered. Islam does not allow women to be seen like this.” In August 2021, when Taliban rose to power in the conflict-ridden Afghanistan the world was apprehensive, questioning their extremist ideals. The foundation day of AMU's Women's College is the marriage anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah and Waheed Jahan. The marriage of these two was instrumental in the impetus of Mulsim women's education in India. Sheikh Abdullah was a reverted Muslim who hailed from Poonch. A lawyer by profession, he was influenced by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, founder of the Aligarh Movement. On February 2, 1902, Sheikh Abdullah got married to Begum Waheed Jahan, daughter of Mirza Ibrahim Beg, in Delhi.
